Flower Mound's first guided Night Hike starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Glenwick Park.

The hike, called Trails and Treats, kicks off a new after-dark trail series from the town's Environmental Services division. Hikers are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and sweet treats will be handed out along the route, according to a town announcement.

Trail guides in orange vests will meet participants on the trail southeast of the tennis and pickleball courts. The park's address is 4100 Weldon Dr., but the town suggests parking near the pickleball courts at 3307 Cross Timbers Rd. or at the Westchester Park lot at 3917 Churchill Dr.

A second hike, Walk with Nature, follows on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Park (600 Spinks Rd.). That outing focuses on native Texas animals, and participants take home what the town calls a "(fake) animal friend." Guides will gather near the start of the Gary Sims Wildlife Encounter Trail.

Both hikes are open to families. The town describes the series as a chance to learn about local flora and fauna while exploring Flower Mound's trail system after dark.
