Flower Mound families can pick pumpkins from a pool and dress their dogs in costume at two town-hosted Halloween events on Saturday, Oct. 17, and Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The Parks and Recreation Department's Pumpkin Plunge takes over the CAC Indoor Pool at 1200 Gerault Rd. on Oct. 17 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The pool will be decorated with black lights for the after-hours event, according to the town's event listing. Participants swim through a floating pumpkin patch to claim a pumpkin for carving or decorating. Activities continue outside the pool afterward.

The town is asking attendees to wear neon swimsuits and bring towels. Registration is required, and spots are limited.

Four days later, the annual Woof-O-Ween returns to Hound Mound Dog Park, 1200 Garden Ridge Rd., on Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The pet costume contest awards prizes in five categories: most creative, scariest, funniest, best homemade and best pet/owner look-alike, according to Flower Mound Local Life.

Whataburger is presenting the event, which also features treats, music and a photo area. No registration or entry fee is required.

Denton County Precinct 4 Commissioner Dianne Edmondson highlighted both events in a Tuesday, Oct. 13, column in the Cross Timbers Gazette, noting the busy stretch of October community gatherings across the precinct. Both events are part of the Parks and Recreation Department's 2026 special events calendar, which includes more than 50 community gatherings throughout the year, according to Flower Mound Local Life.

The Pumpkin Plunge shares its Oct. 17 date with another town event, Chalk the Park, at Twin Coves Park.
