Flower Mound routed crosstown rival Marcus 49-0 on Friday, Oct. 9, at a sold-out Neil E. Wilson Stadium.
Quarterback Barron Sampson completed 16 of 21 passes for 336 yards and six touchdowns with one interception through three quarters before the Jaguars shifted to the ground game to run out the clock. It was Flower Mound's first victory over Marcus since a 17-14 win in the 2021 Mound Showdown, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Wide receivers Trey Brown and Mike Miles split the scoring evenly. Brown hauled in 10 catches for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Miles finished with five receptions for 166 yards and three scores.
The Jaguars jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.
The defense was just as dominant. Flower Mound picked off Marcus quarterback Cash Davis five times, including once in the end zone and once at the goal line, and added four sacks. Davis finished 18 of 31 for 130 yards with no touchdowns. Backup quarterback Coy Dowell capped the scoring with a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Head coach Brian Basil praised Brown and Miles after the game in comments reported by the Cross Timbers Gazette.
"Those guys have worked hard, battled some adversity and they're just great players … and they came up big tonight," Basil said.
The win moved Flower Mound to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in district play, according to MaxPreps. The turnaround has been striking. The Jaguars finished 2-8 in 2025 and have already more than doubled last season's win total through six games.
Flower Mound travels to Frisco Wakeland on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. for its next game.
