Highland Village will open bids Thursday, Nov. 12, for the reconstruction of Highland Shores Boulevard, a project expected to take about two years.
Bids will be opened at 2 p.m. at the City Secretary’s Office, 1000 Highland Village Road, according to the city’s bid notice.
The work includes replacing pavement and improving drainage, pedestrian access and traffic safety. The city anticipates construction beginning in fall 2026, though a start date has not been confirmed.
Project scope and funding
The city’s capital projects overview describes the reconstruction corridor as Briarhill Boulevard to Twin Coves Drive. The construction solicitation identifies the work limits as Twin Coves Drive/Hillside Drive to approximately 200 feet west of Lake Cove.
A September 2025 City Council packet estimated the project at $10.2 million and outlined a Denton County contribution of up to $5.54 million through the county’s 2022 transportation bond program.
That maximum contribution would cover about 54% of the estimate. The final construction price will depend on bids and the contract awarded by the city.
Groundwater work included
Bids also open Nov. 12 for the Highland Shores Boulevard Underdrain Project, according to the city’s capital projects page.
The underdrain will collect groundwater beneath a section of the boulevard and redirect it away from the pavement. Addressing that water is intended to protect the reconstructed road.
The city expects to incorporate the underdrain work into the main reconstruction project.
What drivers can expect
The approximately two-year timeline applies to the construction phase, rather than beginning on bid-opening day.
Detailed construction phases and traffic arrangements have not been confirmed in the city’s project overview. Residents can follow Highland Village’s capital projects page for updates as the project moves toward a contract award.
