lower Mound holds steady at No. 94 in Class 6A while Marcus slips three spots to No. 120 in Dave Campbell's Texas Football Week 5 computer rankings, published Monday, Sept. 21.

The rankings, produced in partnership with Jerry Forrest at PigskinPrep.com, cover more than 1,500 Texas high school football teams. Both area squads had bye weeks before Week 5, so the movement around Marcus reflects other teams' results rather than anything the Marauders did on the field.

Jaguars: No. 94 (unchanged)

Flower Mound (3-0) built its ranking on three straight wins to open the season. The Jaguars beat McKinney Boyd 28-24 on Aug. 27, shut out Timber Creek 31-0 on Sept. 3 and topped Boswell 42-24 on Sept. 11, according to MaxPreps.

A preseason district preview projected the Jaguars seventh in the district. Three weeks in, they sit unbeaten.

The Jaguars open district play Friday, Sept. 25, at home against Denton Braswell (3-0), which checks in at No. 123 in the same rankings.

Marauders: No. 120 (down 3)

Marcus (2-1) dropped from No. 117 after its bye week. The Marauders opened with a 41-38 overtime win over Northwest on Aug. 28 and fell 22-17 at Martin on Sept. 4. They beat Pearce 45-14 on Sept. 11, according to MaxPreps.

Marcus faces its stiffest test of the season Friday, Sept. 25, traveling to Lewisville (3-0). The Fighting Farmers rank No. 18 in the DCTF computer rankings, 102 spots ahead of the Marauders.

What the numbers mean

The DCTF computer rankings and the DCTF AP poll are separate products. The computer model ranks every team in the state by algorithm. The AP poll is a staff-compiled top-25 list. Neither ranking decides playoff seeding in Texas, but both offer a snapshot of where programs stand relative to the rest of the state as district play begins.

Flower Mound hosts Braswell and Marcus travels to Lewisville on Friday, Sept. 25.
