A beauty and wellness spa blending Korean and Japanese traditions is expanding into Highland Village, filling a storefront that has sat empty for more than a year.
Aoki Head Spa and Skin plans to open its fourth DFW-area location at 2300 Highland Village Road, according to a state construction filing reported by the Cross Timbers Gazette. The filing was submitted Aug. 12. Construction is expected to start in September and wrap up in December.
The space previously housed Studio 360 Med Spa & Boutique, which closed in late February 2025, according to Community Impact. It has been vacant since.
Founder and CEO Jihee Aoki, a licensed esthetician, launched the business at a location on the border of Frisco and McKinney. She has since opened locations in Plano and Southlake. The Highland Village spot will be the chain's first in southern Denton County.
Before starting the spa in the United States, Aoki worked as a model and actress in South Korea. According to the company's philosophy page, she struggled with scalp issues herself and found relief through organic methods rooted in traditional Korean herbal medicine. That personal experience motivated her to open the business.
"True beauty doesn't need chemicals. At Aoki, we honor nature's wisdom with organic care and clean rituals," Aoki says on the spa's website.
Services at Aoki's existing locations include Japanese-style head spa packages, Korean facials, scalp detox treatments, anti-hair loss therapies, acne treatments and skin-tightening lifts. Korean facial prices range from $170 for a one-hour session to $1,300 for a two-hour premium treatment, according to the spa's website. All three current locations are open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The spa uses organic herbs including echinacea, angelica root, spirulina, ginger and chrysanthemum in its in-house shampoo bars. Aoki travels to Korea every few months to hand-select the ingredients herself.
The Frisco/McKinney flagship holds a 4.9-star Google rating based on 760 reviews.
No grand opening date has been announced beyond the December 2026 construction completion target.
