Republican Christopher J. Everett is seeking reelection as judge of Denton County Probate Court No. 2 in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. He is the only candidate listed for the office in the state’s election certification.

Background

Everett’s campaign biography says he became the court’s first presiding judge on Jan. 1, 2022, after serving as an associate probate judge. It describes earlier private practice in guardianship, probate and estate planning and identifies him as a Regent University School of Law graduate and Flower Mound resident.

Court administration

His campaign highlights more use of remote hearings for uncontested matters, a calendar for contested cases, revised local rules and standardized forms. It says these changes improved scheduling.

Those performance statements are the campaign’s account. The materials reviewed do not establish an independently measured reduction in waiting times or provide a separate budget and timetable for new second-term initiatives.

Local relevance

A probate judge oversees matters such as estates and guardianships within the court’s jurisdiction. That work can affect families managing a death, incapacity or other probate proceeding.

The office’s role is judicial. The judge applies governing law rather than independently changing state statutes or deciding broader legislative policy.

The Flower Mound Times did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
