Flower Mound firefighters called in mutual aid from three neighboring departments Thursday after heavy smoke poured from a two-story home on Valley View Lane.

Crews arrived around 1 p.m. Aug. 13 to find heavy smoke pouring from the home, according to the Cross Timbers Gazette. The fire was severe enough to bring in engines from Lewisville, Grapevine and Roanoke. After an interior attack, firefighters isolated and extinguished the blaze.

No one was injured. The home's occupants were not there at the time.

The Valley View Lane fire drew a large response from the department:

It was the second structure fire in Flower Mound in two days. On Wednesday, Aug. 12, crews responded to a commercial building in the 500 block of Gerault Road, where cardboard had caught fire in the back of an 18-wheeler parked near a loading dock. Firefighters contained that blaze before it reached the warehouse.

"The department has seen an uptick in fires with hot and dry summer conditions," Flower Mound Fire Department spokesperson Brandon Barth told the Cross Timbers Gazette.

Barth, who also serves as deputy chief and regional coordinator of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, told NBC DFW on Aug. 12 that the department has multiple strike teams deployed across the state supporting wildfire response. The sustained heat has also taken a toll on local crews, who fight fires in heavy tactical gear.

The fires come as Denton County remains under a Red Flag Warning with all outdoor burning prohibited until further notice. The county said dry conditions and a rising Keetch-Byram Drought Index, which measures how dry soil and vegetation are, will continue to increase the potential for wildland fires to ignite and spread, as we reported Aug. 12.

No cause has been determined for either fire. The department has not announced whether formal investigations are underway.
