Flower Mound High School and Marcus High School each earned an "A" in the Texas Education Agency's 2026 accountability ratings, holding the top marks they received last year as Lewisville ISD's overall score ticked upward.
The district scored an 83, keeping its "B" rating but improving by a couple of points from 2025, according to a Cross Timbers Gazette breakdown of the results published Tuesday, Aug. 18. The TEA released the statewide ratings on Friday, Aug. 14, two days after LISD students started the 2026-27 school year.
Not every campus fared as well.
Delay Middle School was the only LISD school to receive an "F," while eight other campuses earned "D" grades. Mill Street Elementary, which is being converted into the Vernell Gregg Early Childhood Center, was among the "D" campuses. Mill Street had received "F" ratings three consecutive years before 2026, prompting LISD to reassign students from the school.
Across the district's other high schools, Hebron High maintained a "B," Lewisville High improved from a "D" to a "C," and The Colony High held at a "C" after dropping from a "B" the year before.
Statewide, the TEA rated 1,202 districts and 9,105 campuses. Twenty-four percent of districts and campuses improved their letter grade compared to 2025, and 85% of all rated campuses scored a "C" or above, according to the TEA's announcement. High schools carry an additional post-secondary readiness component measuring preparation for college, the workforce or military service.
"While the TEA provides these scores as a snapshot, LISD's Campus Profiles show a fuller picture of the rich educational experiences we provide," Superintendent Dr. Rapp wrote in the district's August community newsletter. The newsletter did not address individual campus results.
Districts that believe their rating reflects a data or calculation error may file a Notification of Intent to Appeal within 30 calendar days of the release. Full campus-level results are available at TXschools.gov, and the appeal window closes around Sept. 13.
