Flower Mound swimmers will lose access to the Community Activity Center's indoor pool for nine days starting Saturday, Aug. 15, while the town performs annual maintenance on the year-round facility.
The town announced the closure in a notice posted Wednesday, Aug. 12, giving residents three days to adjust plans before the pool shuts down.
Lap swimmers won't be completely out of luck. The Outdoor Water Park will offer modified lap-swim-only hours beginning Monday, Aug. 17, two days into the closure window. Here's the schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 7 a.m.–1:30 p.m. and 4:30–8:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Sunday: 1–6 p.m.
Those hours represent a significant expansion from the outdoor park's current weekends-only schedule, which took effect when school started Wednesday, Aug. 12. Under that regular post-summer schedule, the water park is open only Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5:45 p.m.
One gap in the plan: the town's notice does not mention any substitute swim option for Saturday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 16, the two days before the outdoor lap-swim hours kick in.
No details available.
The town described the work as both "annual maintenance" and "improvements" but did not specify what repairs or upgrades are planned. The indoor pool is expected to reopen Monday, Aug. 24.
The outdoor park's own season wraps up on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, with a final session from noon to 8 p.m.
