Flower Mound can clinch a Class 6A playoff berth Friday, Oct. 30, at Hebron.

The Jaguars (6-2, 3-2 District 5-6A) will secure a postseason spot with a win over the Hawks, according to Dallas Morning News playoff scenarios published Oct. 28. A loss would leave Flower Mound's fate tangled in tiebreakers heading into the regular-season finale.

Flower Mound, Hebron and Denton Braswell all sit at 3-2 in district play, locked in a three-way tie. Lewisville and Denton Guyer have secured postseason spots, leaving Flower Mound, Hebron, Braswell and Wakeland competing for the remaining two.. The top four finishers qualify for the Class 6A postseason, which begins Nov. 12-14.

The Jaguars have scored 253 points and allowed 146 through eight games, per MaxPreps. They beat Little Elm 14-12 on Oct. 2, routed Marcus 49-0 on Oct. 9 and topped Frisco Wakeland 48-21 on Oct. 16 before falling to Lewisville 28-18 on Oct. 23.

After Hebron, Flower Mound closes the regular season at home against Guyer on Nov. 5.

Projected first-round matchup

A separate Dallas Morning News bracket projection slots Flower Mound into a Division II first-round game against Prosper Walnut Grove from District 6-6A. That projection assumes the Jaguars finish among the top four in district. The exact seed Flower Mound would hold depends on how the three-way tie resolves over the final two weeks.

The same projection lists three other 5-6A vs. 6-6A matchups: Lewisville against Prosper and Allen against Hebron in Division I, and Denton Guyer against Jesuit in Division II.

Marcus eliminated

Across town, the Marcus Marauders' season will end without a playoff appearance. The Marauders (2-6, 0-5) have been eliminated from contention, according to the Dallas Morning News scenarios.

Marcus has lost five straight district games, including a 49-0 defeat to Flower Mound on Oct. 9 and a 29-12 loss at Little Elm on Oct. 23, per MaxPreps. The Marauders travel to Guyer on Oct. 30 and host Wakeland on Nov. 5 to close the season.

Week 10 district watch

Friday's other key District 5-6A game pits Lewisville against Denton Braswell. A Lewisville win clinches the district title. Guyer clinches the top Division II seed with a win over Marcus.
