The Flower Mound Police Department and Flower Mound Fire Department both won Best of Denton County for 2026, the town announced Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The awards cap a months-long public voting process. Residents nominated local businesses, organizations and individuals from June 3 through July 1, then cast votes from July 15 through Aug. 12. Murray Media Group administers the annual contest across Denton County.

Both departments have won before. The town's official announcement noted the recognition came for at least the second year in a row, though neither the town nor the contest organizer specified how many consecutive years the departments have taken the top spots.

The police department, led by Chief David Coulon, operates from 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane. The fire department, led by Fire Chief Paul Henley, is headquartered at 3911 S. Broadway Ave. and runs multiple stations across the community, including a new station under construction in Canyon Falls.

Officer Patrick Johnson also won Best Police Officer, and the fire department earned Best Fire Station, according to a post in the Flower Mound Today Facebook community group. Those individual category wins were not included in the town's official announcement.

The town thanked residents who voted and said it is honored to serve the community every day.

Flower Mound's police department employs sworn officers who patrol roughly 44 square miles. The fire department staffs six stations, with the Canyon Falls location expected to expand coverage on the town's northern edge.
