The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees recognized new head coaches and directors across district campuses at its Monday, Aug. 10 meeting, two days before students returned for the 2026-27 school year.
The board's official recap listed the coaching hires under "Recognitions" but did not name the specific individuals, sports programs or campuses involved. LISD operates more than 60 campuses, and families whose students play fall sports should contact their campus athletic office to confirm new leadership.
Trustees also recognized UIL State Tournament participants from Marcus High School baseball at the same meeting.
The recognitions come as LISD settles into a school year with fresh leadership at its two largest Flower Mound-area high schools. Shannon Knowles took over as Flower Mound High principal this summer after the board approved her appointment June 8. Knowles previously served as associate principal at FMHS for seven years before leading Argyle High School, bringing 27 years of experience in public education. Dr. Cody Koontz has led Marcus High since 2024.
"Flower Mound High School holds a very special place in my heart, and I am deeply honored to serve as its next principal," Knowles said when LISD announced her appointment in June.
Flower Mound High enrolled 3,426 students in 2024-25.
PediPlace clinic update
Trustees received an update on PediPlace, the nonprofit pediatric clinic that partners with LISD to serve children from birth through age 18 who are on Medicaid, CHIP or uninsured. The board recap did not detail what the presentation covered.
The clinic, led by president and CEO Larry Robins, expects to serve 5,900 children in 2026, including more than 1,000 new patients, according to its website. The majority of patients are on Medicaid, with roughly 10% on CHIP and about 2% uninsured, according to a Denton Record-Chronicle report on the partnership. About 65% of visits are for acute or sick care; 35% are preventive.
PediPlace launched its partnership with LISD in 2015 and operates a satellite clinic at Central Elementary School in Lewisville with its own nurse practitioner, medical assistant and three exam rooms. The nonprofit also provides integrated mental health services, placing licensed professional counselors on-site for child and adolescent therapy.

What's next
The board's next major action is a special meeting on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m. at the LISD Administrative Center, where trustees will hold a public hearing and vote on the 2026-27 tax rate. Last year's adopted rate was $1.1178 per $100 valuation. Budget documents are posted at lisd.net.
