A public viewing for former Flower Mound and Hebron basketball coach Byron Dixon will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Road in Fort Worth, according to the obituary listing. A funeral service follows at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Koinonia Christian Church, 2455 SE Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, TX 76018.

Dixon was 46.

He died the evening of Aug. 6, according to the Cross Timbers Gazette. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Greenwood Funeral Homes and Cremation. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Kaylor Dixon, and their children, Kaylor Lurina Dixon and Braylon Michael Jamel Dixon.

Dixon coached the Flower Mound Jaguars boys basketball program during the 2024-25 season and previously led the Hebron Lady Hawks from 2022 to 2024. Under his guidance, Hebron won back-to-back district championships, claimed Bi-District titles and reached the Regional tournament.

Both programs posted tributes after his death. Flower Mound's boys basketball program said Dixon's personality "was as big as his heart and his love for the game," adding that he brought joy and positive energy every day during his one season with the Jaguars.

Hebron's girls basketball program called Dixon a mentor who cared deeply about his players' growth and character, saying his devotion to the program left a lasting mark on the campus.

A Meal Train page organized by Kathy Tran remains active for community members who want to support the Dixon family with meals. "Every act of kindness reminds them they are not walking this journey alone," Tran wrote on the page.

The Hebron girls basketball Instagram account (@hebronhawksgbb) shared the service details publicly, inviting players, families and community members to attend.
