Bluebonnet Elementary in Flower Mound scored 98.93 out of 100 and landed at No. 51 among 4,782 ranked Texas elementary schools in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Elementary Schools rankings.
That makes it the highest-rated school in Lewisville ISD (LISD), according to the district rankings page. Old Settlers Elementary, also in Flower Mound, placed second in the district. Castle Hills Elementary in Lewisville came in third.
In Highland Village, McAuliffe Elementary earned the city's top spot at No. 444 statewide with an overall score of 90.73. Heritage Elementary, also in Highland Village, ranked No. 1,052 with a score of 78.
The numbers behind Bluebonnet's ranking are strong. According to U.S. News, 87% of students scored at or above the proficient level in math and 88% in reading. Those figures far exceed the LISD averages of 53% in math and 60% in reading, and the statewide averages of 44% and 51%. The school serves 668 students in pre-K through fifth grade with 42 full-time teachers, all of them certified.
McAuliffe's 511 students posted 75% math proficiency and 76% reading proficiency, also well above district and state averages. The school has a 14:1 student-teacher ratio and 37 full-time teachers.
Bluebonnet principal Marlene Price, who was promoted to the role in December 2025 after serving as the school's assistant principal since 2024, said at the time of her appointment that the school "thrives because of the dedication, connection and shared purpose that define this community." No statement from Price or LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp specifically addressing the U.S. News ranking was available.
U.S. News ranked nearly 47,000 elementary schools nationwide. The formula weighs four factors equally at 25% each: math proficiency, math performance, reading proficiency and reading performance. Half the formula assessed raw scores. The other half factored in socioeconomic demographics. Rankings used 2023-2024 state assessment data.
