Republican David Wylie is running for Denton County commissioner, Precinct 4, against Democrat Stephanie Draper in the Nov. 3, 2026, election, according to the state’s certification.

Background

Wylie’s campaign website describes experience as president of the Argyle Municipal Development District, an election judge and a Republican grassroots organizer.

Roads, growth and safety

He identifies road improvements and reduced congestion as his top priority. His platform also calls for limiting government growth, supporting first responders, combating human trafficking and resisting high-density development he considers excessive.

The campaign acknowledges that major state highways require coordination with TxDOT. Its published priorities do not provide a complete construction list, project budget, funding mix or completion schedule.

For residents, the proposals concern travel times, county spending and the demands growth places on infrastructure. The campaign does not establish specific reductions in congestion or household taxes.

Authority

The county’s description of Commissioners Court says the court sets the county tax rate, approves its budget and oversees county roads and bridges.

A commissioner participates in those collective decisions. County authority is distinct from city land-use powers and state control of highways; an individual commissioner cannot independently carry out every part of the platform.

The Flower Mound Times did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
