Flower Mound's football team climbed 77 spots to No. 88 in the Class 6A computer rankings after opening the season 2-0.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football, in partnership with PigskinPrep.com, published the Week 3 rankings Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Jaguars sat at No. 165 a week earlier. Two wins later, they jumped 77 spots among more than 1,500 ranked programs statewide.

The surge follows a strong opening stretch. Flower Mound edged McKinney Boyd 28-24 on Thursday, Aug. 27, then shut out Keller Timber Creek 31-0 on Thursday, Sept. 3. That shutout was the bigger statement: 31 points scored, zero allowed.

The 2-0 start matters in a District 5-6A loaded with Denton Guyer, Lewisville and Lewisville Hebron. Before the season, Inside High School Sports DFW projected Flower Mound seventh out of eight teams in the district. Dave Campbell's Texas Football analyst Matt Stepp was slightly more optimistic in an Aug. 19 preseason outlook, writing, "If they falter, Flower Mound and Wakeland look ready to grab one of those playoff spots."

Through two games, the Jaguars have outscored opponents 59-24.

Week 3 matchup: Saginaw Boswell at Flower Mound

The Jaguars host Saginaw Boswell in their Week 3 home game. Boswell is also 2-0. The Pioneers opened with a 59-7 rout of Saginaw and followed with a 41-13 win over Fort Worth Paschal. Boswell has outscored its opponents 100-20 through two games.

In the Week 3 rankings, Boswell sits at No. 147 in Class 6A, up five spots from No. 152 a week earlier. The Pioneers play in District 4-6A alongside Southlake Carroll, Trophy Club Byron Nelson and Keller Central.

Across town, Flower Mound Marcus (1-1) checks in at No. 125 in the same rankings and hosts Richardson Pearce (0-2) in Week 3.

Kickoff time for the Flower Mound-Boswell game had not been confirmed as of Tuesday. District 5-6A play begins later this fall for both Flower Mound and Marcus.
