Jaguar families heading back to Flower Mound High School this fall will find new faces in the hallways and a new principal in the front office.
FMHS announced on Sunday, July 26 that a group of new teachers has joined the campus ahead of the 2026-27 school year. The school called them "incredible educators" and said it expects them to make a positive impact on students and the community, though it did not name individual hires or say how many were added.
The new staff arrives alongside Shannon Knowles, who will serve her first year as FMHS principal when students return Wednesday, August 12.
A familiar face returns
Knowles is not new to the building. According to LISD's announcement, she spent seven years as associate principal at FMHS beginning in 2017, overseeing athletics, performing arts, academic UIL, special education, foreign language, and student council programs. She also led the development of the campus master schedule and mentored new assistant principals across the district.
She left to become principal of Argyle High School in 2024, where she focused on instructional alignment, College, Career, and Military Readiness outcomes, and staff development.
The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 on Monday, June 8 to approve her return. Dr. Staci Barker made the motion; Dr. Sheila Taylor seconded it. All seven trustees — Jenny Proznik, Katherine Sells, Allison Lassahn, Paige Dixon, Dr. Taylor, Dr. Barker, and Madison Lopez — voted yes.
"Flower Mound High School holds a very special place in my heart, and I am deeply honored to serve as its next principal," Knowles said when the appointment was announced in June. "I look forward to building on the incredible foundation already in place and partnering with our outstanding staff, students, and families to continue the Jaguar tradition of excellence."
Knowles brings 27 years in public education to the role. She began her career in 1999 as an athletic coach and special education teacher, working in Birdville, Coppell, Troup, and Lewisville ISDs. She holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Midwestern State University and a master's in educational leadership from Lamar University.
LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp said in June that Knowles' familiarity with the campus and community, combined with her growth as a principal at Argyle, made her the right choice to lead FMHS into its next chapter.
What families need to know
The first day of school for LISD students is Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Back-to-school forms open Monday, August 3, according to the district's back-to-school hub.
