Flower Mound police confirmed that three people found dead inside a Sunrise Circle home Wednesday, Sept. 23 were members of the same family. The case is a murder-suicide.

Carlos Shelton, 65, killed his wife Elida Shelton, 63, and their son Brian Shelton, 27, before taking his own life, according to an update from the Flower Mound Police Department posted Friday, Sept. 25. All three lived together at the home in the 10700 block of Sunrise Circle.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office determined the manners of death: homicide for Elida and Brian Shelton, suicide for Carlos Shelton.

Officers had responded to the home at approximately 10:43 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 after family members reported that two residents had not shown up for work and could not be reached. Inside, officers found all three dead.

The department's Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case. The department said it is not seeking any outstanding suspects and that there is no known threat to the public.

Deputy Chief Henry Lucio told NBC DFW on Wednesday, Sept. 23 that detectives believed the deaths were isolated. "I can say there's not a threat to the community at this time; we do believe it's an isolated incident," Lucio said.

Detectives remained at the home nearly 12 hours after the initial call, processing the scene for evidence, NBC DFW reported.

Jose Zamarippa, who is married to Carlos and Elida Shelton's daughter, told FOX 4 that Carlos Shelton had recently faced medical issues and mounting bills. Zamarippa said Carlos Shelton had become withdrawn and was not acting like himself before the deaths.

Police have not confirmed a motive.

Zamarippa told FOX 4 that Brian Shelton had just completed training to become a ministry leader at his church.
