Flower Mound residents needing non-emergency police help should call 214.984.9680 while the department's regular line is out of service. The outage began Thursday, Oct. 1, and no restoration timeline has been set.

The Flower Mound Police Department (FMPD) said in a town civic alert that a regional issue with its telecommunications carrier knocked the non-emergency number, 972.539.0525, offline. The alert directs residents to the alternate number for all non-emergency police matters.

911 is not affected. Residents facing an emergency should call 911 as usual.

How to reach FMPD right now

The primary alternate number is 214.984.9680.

Residents can also email the department at [email protected] or visit the FMPD website at flowermound.gov, according to Flo Mo Bee. FMPD's social media accounts, @flowermoundpd on X and Instagram and FlowerMoundPoliceDepartment on Facebook, are additional channels for updates.

During business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, the town's Customer Relations division handles service requests at 972.539.SERV (7378).

Residents who prefer to visit in person can go to FMPD headquarters at 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane.

Why the outage matters after hours

Under normal conditions, the non-emergency dispatch line operates around the clock. It doubles as the town's after-hours contact for non-life-threatening issues such as noise complaints, loose animals and water or sewer line breaks. With that line down, residents dealing with those situations outside business hours should use the alternate number, 214.984.9680, or call 911 if there is any genuine safety concern.

The town said in its civic alert that it will notify residents once the regular non-emergency number is restored. As of Friday, Oct. 2, the town's after-hours webpage had not yet been updated to reflect the outage, and no posts about the alternate number appeared on FMPD's social media accounts.

Residents can check flowermound.gov or the town's social media channels for restoration updates.
