Crystal Edmonson Levonius, a Republican, is seeking reelection as judge of Denton County’s 481st Judicial District Court in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. Democrat Seth Fuller is also listed in the state’s certified election records.

Background

Gov. Greg Abbott announced Levonius’ appointment on Dec. 8, 2021, effective Jan. 1, 2022, according to the governor’s office. The announcement date and the date she took office are different.

The appointment announcement describes her prior private practice and work as an assistant district attorney in Collin County. It lists a bachelor’s degree in government from New Mexico State University and a law degree from Southwestern Law School.

Responsibilities and campaign detail

A district judge presides over cases within the court’s jurisdiction, applies the law and manages proceedings. The office is separate from the Legislature, which enacts criminal and civil statutes and approves state spending.

The official materials reviewed establish Levonius’ background and election contest but do not provide a detailed 2026 policy platform, proposed administrative changes or implementation costs.

For Denton County residents, the election concerns who will oversee proceedings in this court. It does not determine the outcome of any individual case.

The Flower Mound Times did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
