Lewisville ISD will hold a public hearing Monday, Nov. 9, to discuss its state financial accountability rating, following the district’s announcement earlier this year that it earned a perfect score.

The hearing begins at 7 p.m. in the boardroom of the LISD Administrative Center, 1565-A W. Main Street in Lewisville, according to the district’s public notice.

In its August budget announcement, LISD reported receiving 100 points on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, known as School FIRST. The hearing notice does not specify the score or rating cycle that will be presented.

The Texas Education Agency administers School FIRST to evaluate how public school systems manage their finances. Established by the Legislature in 2001, the program examines financial reporting, administrative spending, debt obligations and other measures of financial management.

The system assigns four ratings:

  • A: Superior Achievement
  • B: Above Standard Achievement
  • C: Meets Standard Achievement
  • F: Substandard Achievement

For the 2024–25 rating cycle, TEA used 21 financial indicators, including the accuracy of information submitted by districts and material weaknesses identified by external auditors. Failure on any of four critical indicators resulted in an automatic F, regardless of the overall score, according to the agency’s explanation.

Rating years and financial reporting years differ. The 2024–25 ratings, released in November 2025, were based on fiscal year 2024 financial reports. In that cycle, 81% of school systems statewide received an A.

Texas public school systems must present their financial accountability results at a public meeting, giving parents and taxpayers an opportunity to review the findings.

LISD’s notice lists an in-person location but does not identify a remote-access option. Residents can check lisd.net for meeting updates before Nov. 9.
