The Flower Mound Jaguars are 3-0 for the first time since 2019, and statewide rankings are reflecting the turnaround.
Dave Campbell's Texas Football on Tuesday, Sept. 15, named Flower Mound one of the most surprising unbeaten teams in the state. The Jaguars have jumped 67 spots to No. 94 in the publication's Class 6A computer rankings. Flower Mound went 2-8 last season. The program's last winning record came in 2019, when it finished 8-4.
Coach Brian Basil entered the season with reason for optimism. A group of juniors who went 8-2 on JV last year moved up to varsity, and they have delivered.
Junior running back Wyatt LeJeune leads the way. The Class of 2028 prospect has rushed for 356 yards and five touchdowns through three games. He opened the season with 116 yards on the ground in a 28-24 comeback win over McKinney Boyd on Aug. 27.

Star Local Media sports reporter Chase Avants posted the recap on X after the Boyd game, noting that Flower Mound was outgained 475-392 in total yards but found a way to win.
On defense, three-year starter Chase Alves captains a unit that pitched a shutout against Keller Timber Creek in Week 2. Senior defensive end Brady Magill added 11 tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble in the Jaguars' 42-24 Week 3 win over Fort Worth Boswell, according to the Dallas Morning News.
That Boswell game showed the Jaguars' resilience. Flower Mound trailed 17-14 early in the third quarter before quarterback Jack Kirby scored on a 9-yard keeper to retake the lead. Slate Dettweiler then intercepted a Boswell pass, and Kirby added a 20-yard touchdown run. Edwin Wong punched in a 5-yard score. Dettweiler capped the night with a 14-yard touchdown run to seal the victory, according to the Cross Timbers Gazette.
The Dallas Morning News listed Flower Mound among the biggest movers in its Dallas-area Class 6A rankings after the Boswell win. VYPE DFW placed the Jaguars on its "Others to Watch" list alongside district rivals Marcus and Lewisville.
The Jaguars have a bye before opening District 5-6A play at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at home against Denton Braswell.
