Flower Mound residents can nominate a neighbor, group or organization for the town's 2026 Outstanding Citizenship Award through Saturday, Oct. 31.

The annual award honors Flower Mound residents and local groups who contribute to the community. Nominees must meet at least two of three criteria: striving to improve the community, enhancing residents' lives or addressing a community need, according to the town's civic alerts page.

The program recognizes recipients in four categories: adult individual, group, youth individual and a Lifetime Achievement Award for those with 10 or more years of cumulative service.

Last year's winners were Jacque Narrell in the individual category, the Flower Mound Hospital Auxiliary as the group honoree and Vyom Sharma in the youth category. No Lifetime Achievement Award recipient was named in 2025. In 2024, the town honored Kirti Patel, the New Century Lions Club and Samadhi Basnayake.

A nine-member committee of Flower Mound residents reviews all applications and selects winners in November or December. Six members are chosen by the Town Council, with the mayor's pick serving as chair. Three leaders from local nonprofits serve on a rotating basis, according to the town's award page.

Recipients are announced and honored at a Town Council meeting in December. Each winner receives a trophy from the mayor and council, and their name is added to a perpetual plaque at Town Hall. The individual category winner also receives an invitation to participate in town events throughout the following year.

Elected officials and committee members are ineligible.

Nominators must submit a complete application detailing the nominee's contributions. Supporting materials such as videos and photographs may be included. All materials become town property and will not be returned. Nominations remain under consideration for up to one year after submission. The town considers nominations without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, gender or disability.
