The Lewisville Education Foundation landed a new corporate partner just two weeks before LISD's first day of school, naming Texas Bank and Trust as its official bank effective Thursday, July 30.
The foundation, which funds teacher grants and campus projects across Lewisville ISD's 13 communities, announced the partnership without disclosing dollar amounts or the deal's duration. LEF said the arrangement will help expand its reach and better serve district educators and students.
Financial terms aside, the partnership arrives during a period of active grant-making that has directly reached Flower Mound and Highland Village classrooms.
What LEF has funded locally
In September 2025, LEF awarded 45 teacher grants totaling $75,000 across the district. Five went to Flower Mound High School educators: Erin Charles, Christopher Gage, Jana Harvey, Karen Storrie, and Johnson Varghese. Individual grants range from $300 to $2,500.
In December 2025, the foundation distributed $47,900 in campus grants to 13 schools. Heritage Elementary and McAuliffe Elementary, both in Highland Village, received funding through City of Highland Village grants administered by LEF. Those campus grants paid for Sphero robots, Maker Space STEM materials, sensory tools for inclusive classrooms, and decodable readers for early literacy.
Marcus High School received a campus grant in November 2024, when LEF awarded $38,250 across nine campuses.
Timing and what's next
The 2026-2027 teacher grant cycle is already in its blind-review phase. Applications closed in the spring, and a volunteer committee is evaluating proposals now. In recent years, awards have been announced in September, shortly after LISD's first day of school on Wednesday, August 12.
LEF Executive Director Bill Lee, who took the role in August 2024 after serving as LISD's director of marketing, has not commented publicly on the partnership's specific goals.
Texas Bank and Trust, an FDIC-insured community bank headquartered in Longview with a Dallas-Fort Worth presence, already runs a separate Excellence in Education scholarship that awards $1,000 each to 10 high school seniors planning to major in finance, business, or entrepreneurship. That program is not part of the LEF arrangement.
The 2026-2027 teacher grant recipients are expected to be announced in September.
