Thirteen Lewisville ISD elementary students earned spots as 2026 National Math Stars, placing them among roughly 600 children chosen from nearly 9,000 applicants nationwide.
Four of the eight LISD campuses represented are in Flower Mound: Donald Elementary, Forest Vista Elementary, Bluebonnet Elementary School and Old Settlers Elementary. The district announced the selections Tuesday, Sept. 1, naming three Voyager Stars and 10 Pathfinder Stars.
Fewer than 7% of applicants made the cut.
The three Voyager Stars are Layth Nasir of Donald Elementary, Maksym Shevchenko of Hebron Valley Elementary and Steven Tang of Forest Vista Elementary.
The Voyager track is a fully funded, 10-year program for families with significant unmet need for guidance and financial support. National Math Stars invests more than $100,000 in each Voyager Star over the decade, covering advanced math courses, mentorship, STEM enrichment and invitations to competitions and summer camps.
The 10 Pathfinder Stars come from six LISD campuses:

- Toby Hoang, Morningside Elementary
- Aiden Jang, Forest Vista Elementary
- Gia Kaur, Independence Elementary
- Maurya Koneni, Old Settlers Elementary
- Shruthi Kumaresan, Independence Elementary
- Klyde Park, Homestead Elementary
- Cohen Reinartz, Morningside Elementary
- Suhan Sadhu, Independence Elementary
The Pathfinder track is open regardless of family income. It gives students access to expert guidance, community gatherings and a pool of need-based funds for advanced STEM courses and camps.
Each student was chosen after a multi-stage evaluation of mathematical aptitude.
"This accomplishment reflects both ability and effort, along with the encouragement and support of teachers and families," said Koby Stringer, LISD's elementary gifted and talented administrator.
