A man wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is still at large after a July 19 stabbing at a Bartonville equestrian center. The victim was transported to a hospital in Flower Mound with a critical stab wound.

Bartonville Police Department identified Guillermo Alvarez as the second suspect in the case in a press release Thursday, July 30. The department released a photo of Alvarez on its Facebook page.

The stabbing occurred on Porter Road in Bartonville on Sunday, July 19. According to Cross Timbers Gazette reporting, two brothers who reside at the equestrian center got into an altercation that escalated into a physical assault. A third person who works and lives at the center sustained a stab wound to the abdomen during the fight.

Bartonville PD responded to the Flower Mound hospital around 10:49 p.m. that night after learning of the injury.

The department described the wound as critical.

One suspect, Yonkani Alvarez-Ruiz, was found at the scene and arrested without incident. He was booked Monday, July 20, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Denton County Jail with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Alvarez, the second suspect, has not been apprehended as of Friday, July 31. The Bartonville Police Department said he remains at large and is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Multi-agency response

Six agencies assisted Bartonville PD in the original response: Argyle Police Department, Double Oak PD, Northlake PD, the Denton County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Homeland Security, and the FBI Violent Crimes Squad based in Frisco.

The Denton County Sheriff's Office, which serves unincorporated areas throughout the county including near Flower Mound and Highland Village, assisted in the response.

Bartonville PD recently entered into a partnership with ICE through the 287(g) Task Force Model, approved at the town's June council meeting. The program allows designated officers to have ICE oversight when arresting a person suspected of a criminal offense.
